The Scoop
The Temple Street Couplet is the flagship, the rainbow-hued room on the edge of Echo Park and Westlake where Gefen Skolnick's online following finally got somewhere to turn up in person. Ise matcha from Japan is the house pour, and the bananas-and-cream matcha is the drink we would order first. Single-origin Peruvian beans and the house espresso blend cover the coffee side. This is the room the brand was built around, so the limited-edition drops and the general sense of color land hardest here. It opened in January to a following that had been waiting for it. Echo Park is walkable from here and Laveta is a short way along Glendale Boulevard, which makes a two-cafe morning easy.
