The Scoop
Stereoscope opens its own site with a line about the pursuit of depth and simplicity, in coffee, in culture, in life, and it means it literally enough to have built a framework around it. At the heart of the philosophy sits what the company calls the Five Elements, a cycle of living systems shaped by nature's rhythms. They name five: altitude. Soil. Fauna. Climate. And the farmer and roaster taken together as the fifth. They use it as a lens for what they describe as the poetry of coffee, rooted in time and shaped by nature. It was founded in 2013 by a small team of seasoned baristas and Q-graders, with a stated mission to make high-quality coffee easily accessible and to partner with the communities it serves. Exclusive Japanese ceremonial grade matcha sits alongside beans roasted in house. The brand identity, the narrative and the custom packaging all come from the Oslo design studio OlssønBarbieri and have won several international design awards, which you can see the moment a bag is on the counter. We rate it as the roaster in this county that takes matcha as seriously as its coffee.
