The Scoop

Nam Coffee is the first Vietnamese coffee importer and roaster based in Los Angeles, founded in 2022 by Vince Nguyen as a love letter to his route from Vietnam to California. Vince spent his early childhood in Pleiku, a city of coffee farms and tea and honey growers, and was drinking Vietnamese coffee young. At twelve he was working at his mother's coffee stand in Saigon after the family moved, and the flavor he chases now comes from the mountains of that hometown as much as from his current one. The roasting line is where that shows. Da Lat is 100% robusta, District One a fifty-fifty blend, Orange County 70% arabica against 30% robusta, and Buzzfeed has written about the scent of it fresh off the grinder. The Salted Cream Matcha Ube is the drink to order, named by the LA Times among fifteen over-the-top coffee and matcha drinks to try in the city. What began in East Hollywood has since opened a second room in Chinatown on Ord Street, and we would take the Ord Street one for the walk afterwards.
