The Scoop

The Culver City room sits on Washington right by the Culver Steps, on a block that otherwise runs to coffee shops and smoothie bars. Blonde wood and basket lanterns give it the air of a meditation studio, and the room is arranged around matcha preparation, so the making of the thing is the thing you watch while you wait. Seating is limited and the Culver Steps outside take the overflow, which on a decent afternoon is where you want to be anyway. Okinawa boba and Hokkaido milk soft serve are both on offer, and the soft serve turns any of them into something closer to a milkshake. We treat it as the destination stop when we are anywhere near downtown Culver City, and we have yet to talk anybody out of the ube.
