Layla Bagels

Layla started here on Ocean Park Boulevard in January 2023, a few minutes from the Santa Monica Farmers' Market that still supplies it. Sergio Espana and Sammi Tarantino opened it as a sourdough bagel shop with coffee, and it built the following that carried the brand to Beverly Hills and Brentwood. Doors open at 7 am and close at 2:30 pm, and things sell out as the afternoon comes on, so early is the move. We love that the matcha shifts with the seasons the way the food does: the Minty Melon Matcha carries Munak Farms watermelon and Weiser Farms bonny melon juice with market mint and basil over ceremonial grade matcha. The sandwiches all carry names, The Laika with smoked salmon and herb cream cheese, The Scarlett with heirloom tomato and lemon zest, and Sammi's Egg Sammy with aged cheddar and dijon aioli. Bagels run plain through jalapeno cheddar, with gluten free from Original Sunshine.
