Bonsai Coffee Bar was built by Yanni and Tommy around the phrase "grow a little, every day." Their owner story uses the art of bonsai as the model for a warm third place shaped by steady attention and rooted in Asian-inspired coffee, matcha and food. The current Sawtelle menu runs from straight matcha tea and a classic latte through sweet sea salt cream tops, Matcha x Matcha, vanilla, strawberry, pandan-coconut and sparkling yuzu. Square also carries the matcha-and-espresso Bonsai Latte, seasonal banana cream and creamy coconut water matcha, plus a matcha white chocolate cookie. The owner also sells HIBI matcha powder and runs matcha classes. A second cafe is announced for 9900 Venice Blvd in Culver City, but the owner still marks it coming soon, so only Sawtelle is listed here.
