The Scoop
Alfred is on West Olympic near Sawtelle Japantown, and it opens at 6 am, tying Ventura Place for the earliest door in the group. Sawtelle Japantown is an eating street, so a matcha here is usually the start of something longer. Being a few minutes from Sawtelle Japantown is the thing we would plan around. Alfred's matcha is a custom blend milled in Kyotanabe in Kyoto Prefecture, which makes the geography feel apt.
