The Scoop
Alfred is on South Robertson, opening at 6 am, which ties it with Sawtelle and Ventura Place for the earliest door in the group. Robertson is a shopping street that starts moving early and the cafe is built for that. This is the Alfred we would pick for a weekday morning, purely for the 6 am open. The matcha menu is the full one, from the plain iced latte through the POG Matcha and the Matcha Cloud Cream. Café Matcha, Alfred's espresso-free sibling, has an address a few blocks north on Alfred Street, which makes this corner of the city a good place to compare the two side by side.
